Several higher education institutes partner with the local high schools to allow students to take college prep courses without having to travel. Northeast Community College also has an extended campus conveniently located in West Point. This allows Cuming County residents to further their educational goals without having to drive to other area communities.

Northeast Community College has an extended campus located adjacent to the Donald E. Nielsen Community Center at 202 Anna Stalp Avenue in West Point, Nebraska. The facility has state-of-the-art classrooms, computer labs, and science labs.

NECC offers many courses including classes for high school students, health field related classes, personal enrichment programs, first aid as well as short term businesses courses.

Students in Cuming County have local public schools located within their communities with the exception of Beemer. Students in Beemer have the option to attend one of the other public schools either in Wisner or West Point.

ESU #2 serves school districts in Burt, Cuming, Dodge, and Saunders counties. The ESU #2 team is a group of dedicated professionals that provide a wide variety of services to member schools, including: professional development opportunities, digital learning & internet services, and student supports for individuals with special needs.

P2T, Pathways 2 Tomorrow, is located in the former Beemer School. This program provides students with an opportunity explores vocational options in: residential construction, health science and computer science.

West Point Public - Beemer Public School is a C1 school and has an enrollment of approximately 790 students PreK-12.

A modern distance-learning classroom offers high school and college classes from other high schools and colleges throughout Nebraska. West Point Public Schools also has a wireless lab in each building.

An Alternative Energy Learning Center is used by grade school students, first learning about Zero Energy Systems, to high school students observing, learning, and using these systems. Along with our District other local districts, Tech schools, Community Colleges, even Universities will be invited to come and observe what we are doing.

The elementary school was added to the existing Junior High/High School facility in 2017. Many other additions and renovations have been completed since the schools were consolidated in 1969. There are approximately 450 students enrolled; therefore, a low teacher-student ratio provides more 1:1 interaction.

The option to attend a parochial school is available to all area students. Guardian Angels Central Catholic offers classes for students in grades K-12. St. Paul’s Lutheran School is available for students K-8.

Each school offers sports  and fine art activities as well as partnering with the public schools for educational courses that currently are not offered.
